Mid-month Debt payoff update February 2024
So each month, in the middle of the month, I will make a debt payoff post. I posted a TikTok post last week about my debt payoff journey, and it got 70 likes, so I want to make a blog post about it also.
So as of February 16, 2024, I owe 19,695 dollars in consumer debt. My goal is to pay this off by September 2024.
Now this may seem like a lot, but less than 2 years ago, this number was close to $40,000!!!! Insane?? Right!!!! That means I have already paid off close to $20,000.
So what is consumer debt? And how did I get so far behind? So consumer debt is debt that consists of personal debts that are owed as a result of purchasing goods that are used for individual or household consumption. Credit card debt, personal loans, auto loans, mortgages, and payday loans are all examples of consumer debt. So everything I owe is basically something that I bought. My car is paid off, so I don't have auto loans. So this debt is basically credit card debt and a mix of personal loans. So how did it get so high?
After the pandemic happened, I wasn't working for 10 months, and man, those 10 months really hit me because, after the pandemic, inflation happened. So I wasn't earning any income from working; I only made money from my business. And I was still spending as if I had two sources of income. That's how I can explain it. Also keep in mind that during this phase, my separation happened, so I went from a two-income household to one.
So I'm proud to say today that I only owe 19,695 dollars, because it could be worse. I'm learning to take everything one day at a time. One week at a time. And last, one paycheck at a time, lol. Bye!!!!!!
Here is a screenshot of a payment I made today!!!!

February: $$$$$$$$$
For some reason, the months of January, February, and March are the months I make the most money. I don't know why, but it always turns out that way. I think it has to do with my budget, and how I budget my money for the beginning of the year. And no, it's not because of taxes. I make way too much to even earn a tax return. But anyway I love it!! The older I get, the more I have learned to be stingey with my money lol. Maybe it's because I'm working 3 jobs now lol. I just don't feel like spending money on things that don't matter, or things that will end up in the trash. So I'm excited because I have already booked two spring break trips. Yes 2 trips. I will be going to Aruba and Saint Maarteen. I'm excited to say the least. Now, how am I able to do this? So I have 2 spring breaks. One at the middle school and one at the college. I'm going to Aruba, beacuse it's my friend's birthday and she wants to go on a group trip. I'm going to Saint Maarteen, as a solo trip. This is a gift to myself to celebrate me being consistent, paying off all that debt, and just self care.
So you all we be getting more blog posts from me for the next 2 months. Since I will be blogging my travel experiences. So I am currently working 6 days a week. I only have sundays off. I have someone that helps me watch Gianny in the evenings when I go to my second and third job. Which I am forever grateful for. No amount of words I speak can ever show my gratitude. I wouldn't be able to do any this without my village. The school posted summer schedule. So this summer I will be teaching 3 courses at the college, and I'll also be taking 16 credits lol. So weird huh? I have to retake prequistes from more than a decade ago, because they have since expired. So I will keep you guys updated on everything.
